The skin is the largest organ of the body; therefore, it’s often the easiest part of the body to notice. So who doesn’t want to have healthier, younger-looking skin? With Springtime fast approaching, there has never been a better time to give yourself a makeover. Whether you areSkin suffering from acne scars or simply wrinkles, find out how your Syosset dermatologist can help.

What is a fractional CO2 laser?

This state-of-the-art equipment known as the ActiveFx gently removes the topmost layer of the skin to help correct a variety of dermatological problems.

What can the ActiveFx laser treat?

It can dramatically reduce the appearance of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles in the face, as well as decrease the appearance of acne scars and discolorations due to age spots and sun damage. It also produces tighter skin and more elasticity to give you a more youthful appearance.

What is the process like?

Laser resurfacing is a precise and efficient way to renew the skin and reduce the appearance of common skin problems. The carbon dioxide (CO2) laser that we use gently removes the top layer of the skin. By removing the top layer of damaged, wrinkled skin, we reveal newer, healthier skin and also promote the growth of new skin cells and collagen.

What are the benefits of opting for this treatment over other wrinkle-reducing treatments like chemical peels?

While you do have other options for getting a younger look, what makes the ActiveFx laser so ideal is its multiple effects in targeting deep set wrinkles, skin texture, tone, and pigment.  The laser also offers less complications, shorter recovery times and more effective treatment than older technologies. With more invasive surgical  treatments, you can expect a downtime of several weeks (usually about 6 weeks); however, with ActiveFx your recovery is only five to seven days.

If you want to get a more youthful and radiant appearance this season, give us a call to schedule your next Syosset dermatology appointment. Opt for a new look for this year!
